The Hurricanes have been dealt an early blow with the loss of one of their most experienced locks ahead of the 2019 Super Rugby season.
Sam Lousi, who played all but one of their matches last season, has picked up a chest injury that has been described as "not short term".
The Hurricanes will take on the Waratahs at 8.45pm Saturday while the Blues will meet the Crusaders at 6.35pm
Meanwhile on Friday, the Chiefs take on the Highlanders at 6.35pm in Waikato while the Brumbies will meet the Rebels at 8.45pm.
The Sunwolves face the Sharks at 10.55pm Saturday.
The Bulls meet the Stormers at 3.15am Sunday while the Lions face the Jaguares at 9.40am Sunday.
