The Crusaders continued with their impressive recent form when they claimed a deserved 24‑13 win over the Hurricanes in Christchurch last night.
With this being a contest between the two leading sides in the New Zealand Conference – only a point separating them in the standings before the game – there was plenty of hype around the match which was played in a wet conditions with heavy rain restricting play mostly to the forwards for many large periods.
Crusaders tries was scored by Scott Barrett, Michael Alaalatoa and Heiden Bedwell‑Curtis while the Hurricanes try came in from Reed Prinsep who ran onto an inside pass from flanker Ardie Savea just outside the Crusaders' 22 and beat three defenders on his way over the try‑line.
Meanwhile Fiji born winger Marika Koroibete scored a hat‑trick for the Melbourne Rebels as they thrashed the Sunwolves 40‑13 last night while the Jaguares defeated the Sharks 29-13 this morning.
Tonight the Chiefs will host the Waratahs at 7.35pm while the Reds will take on the Highlanders at 9.45pm.
