History is against the Chiefs for their semi‑final against the Crusaders in Christchurch this Saturday ‑ only two teams have ever made the trip from South Africa to New Zealand and won their next playoff match.
The Chiefs spent yesterday trying to rid themselves of jetlag and get up to speed before jumping on a plane again ‑ this time just down country.
Coach Dave Rennie says they have got a plan from the moment they left the field in South Africa and that was around recovery and so on.
Rennie says even when they travelled the players slept at certain times.
The Chiefs will play the Crusaders at 7.35pm this Saturday and the Hurricanes will play the Lions at 12.30am Sunday.
