Hill to represent Fiji boxing at Rio Olympics

Amateur boxer, Winston Hill will represent Fiji in boxing at the Rio Olympics.

22-year-old Hill, who settled for silver in the welterweight division in the Pacific Games last year, has got a tripartite invitation to compete at the Rio Games.

Hill will be participating in the 69kg welterweight division.

Originally from Suva, Hill took up boxing just three years ago and is now living his dream as he prepares to take part in the Olympics.

Meanwhile, Fiji’s Chef de Mission, Cathy Wong confirms that Team Fiji will return home before the closing ceremony of the Rio Games.

So far Archery, Judo, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis and Boxing have confirmed their athletes while others like Rugby and Soccer will be confirming their travelling athletes next week.

54 athletes and 35 officials will be part of Team Fiji to the Rio Games.

The Rio Olympics will be held from the 6th to the 22nd of August.
