The Highlanders have snapped a five‑game losing streak, overpowering the Blues 24‑12 in Dunedin last night.
The home team went into halftime with a slight 7‑5 lead over the Blues after a grueling first half.
Highlanders right winger Matt Faddes came up with the play of the match in the 56th minute, snatching a poor pass from reserve Blues halfback Sam Nock around halfway.
Faddes showed great speed to go all the way to score the Highlanders' third try of the match.
The Blues managed to score a consolation try late in the fixture, with Melani Nanai touching down under the goal posts in the 80th minute thanks to a perfectly executed cross‑field kick by Harry Plummer.
In other matches last night, the Waratahs defeated the Rebels 23-20 while the Brumbies edged the Stormers 19-17.
At the end of round 10 of the Super Rugby competition, defending champions, the Crusaders are leading with 34 points, in second place are the Rebels with 24 points, the Bulls are in third place with 23 points, in fourth place are the Hurricanes are with 27 points while the Lions are in fifth place with 22 points.
