The Highlanders have made it to Christchurch, arriving just hours before kickoff in their Super Rugby quarterfinal against the Crusaders.
The Highlanders had been scheduled to fly yesterday, but as the storm took hold across the South Island their flight was cancelled and the team was forced to delay their journey until today.
The team's flight on this morning suffered a brief delay and landed in Christchurch at 12.40pm, seven hours ahead of the 7.35pm kick‑off.
With a semifinal against either the Chiefs or Stormers at stake, Highlanders coach Tony Brown expects the weather to play a "major factor" in the second of four quarterfinals.
The Highlander will take on the Crusaders at 7.35pm tonight in their Super Rugby quarter final.
Last night the Hurricanes produced a strong second half performance to seal a 35‑16 win over the Brumbies in their Super Rugby quarterfinal in Canberra.
The Hurricanes will now head into next week's semifinal against either the Lions or Sharks.
In other quarter finals, the Lions will take on the Sharks at 12.30am tomorrow and the Stormers will host the Chiefs at 3am tomorrow.
