The Gold Coast Titans board met for a “crisis meeting” which went for over four hours yesterday to discuss the feud between Fiji Bati hopeful Jarryd Hayne and his coach Neil Henry.
It said publicly it had made no decision on the future of either man but it appears Henry is a dead man walking and Hayne may follow his mentor out the door.
Daily Telegraph journalist Phil Rothfield says the club had already decided to sack Henry.
He also reports that the Titans will try to push Hayne out, telling him he’s free to be released from the final year of his deal if he can find a suitor to take his $AUS1.2 million a season contract off the club’s hands.
It’s unlikely an NRL team will be in a position to do so, but Hayne could field strong offers from either French or Japanese Rugby.
Hayne is likely to miss this week’s match against the Eels due to injury.
The match will kick off at 9.50pm Thursday.
