Code‑hopper Jarryd Hayne has held talks with the Australian Rugby Union to discuss a possible move to the Waratahs.
Hayne played for the Fiji 7s team at the London Sevens in May but failed to make the cut for the squad to participate at next month’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The 28‑year‑old was expected to return to his former NRL side, the Parramatta Eels, but it is reported in the Australian media that he met ARU chief executive Bill Pulver in Sydney yesterday to discuss the prospect of joining the Waratahs.
Hayne’s services are also wanted by rugby clubs in France and Japan but a move to the Waratahs would suit him as it would mean he continues his career in Sydney.
