After days of rumours circulating in the press, Racing 92 and former Springbok fly‑half Pat Lambie has announced his retirement from rugby.
Lambie’s unfortunate decision was confirmed on the Top 14 side’s official website.
Planet Rugby reports the 28‑year‑old suffered several head injuries in recent years and calls time on his career after 56 international games for South Africa.
Lambie ran out 71 times and racked up 757 points for the Sharks in Super Rugby from 2010 to 2017, which was where he shot to fame.
He made his Springbok Test debut against Ireland in November 2010 with his final appearance coming against Wales in November 2016.
