Fijian born giant winger Taqele Naiyaravoro is ready to start on the wing for the New South Wales Waratahs in the first game of their Super Rugby title defence against the Western Force on Sunday.
Naiyaravoro, who played a handful of games off the bench last season after switching over from the Wests Tigers NRL club, is tipped to fill the spot vacated by Alofa Alofa, who moved to France after the 2014 Super Rugby final.
The former Suva Grammar School athlete who weighs 123 kilograms, has scored three tries in two trial matches and has an early season edge over veteran Matt Carraro, youngster Andrew Kellaway and Test winger Peter Betham.
Speaking from Sydney before their training this morning, Taqele says his aim is to improve on his game compared to last year.
Meanwhile, Waratahs coach Michael Cheika said Taqele is another player who can spark his backline.
The Waratahs will face the Western Force at 5.05pm this Sunday.
The opening Super Rugby match will be between the Crusaders and the Rebels at 6.35pm tomorrow while the Brumbies takes on the Reds at 8.40pm.
