Former Fiji fifteens rugby captain and lock Ilaitia Savai has passed away.
His younger brother Reverend Manasa Levatabua confirmed that Savai died at the Nadi Hospital last Thursday after a short illness.
The former Nadroga lock played thirty eight international test matches for Fiji, scoring six tries and earned a total of 26 points from 1984 to 1995.
Savai made his international debut against Australia back in June 1984 at the ANZ Stadium.
He played with Severo Koroduadua, Paula Nawalu, Manasa Qoro, Jimi Damu, Jone Kubu and Sairusi Naituku.
Savai hails from Nakalawaca, Namalata in Tailevu and died at the age of 54.
He will be laid to rest on Thursday in Nakalawaca while the reguregu will start tomorrow.
