Former Fiji 7s coach Eddie Waqa has passed away.
The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has sent its condolences from Cape Town in South Africa and Interim coach, Nacani Cawanibuka says the team was truly saddened to hear the news of Eddie Waqa’s passing.
Cawanibuka says Eddie Waqa will be missed by the rugby family in Fiji and the players will remember him this weekend.
The late Eddie Waqa coached the Fiji 7s team in 2012 and then moved to coach the Tonga 7s team.
He was also the coach of the Ovalau rugby team.
Meanwhile, the Vodafone Fiji 7s team is pooled with France, Kenya and Japan in the Cape Town 7s.
Fiji will play Japan at 11.05pm Saturday, they will then play Kenya at 2.26am Sunday and Fiji’s final pool match is against France at 6.12am Sunday.
The Cup quarterfinals will begin at 11.04pm Sunday, the semifinals will start at 3.34am Monday and the final will be played at 6.44am Monday.
