Australian surfer Sally Fitzgibbons has reached the quarter‑finals of the Fiji Women's Pro despite suffering an injury.
The defending champion had a bandage covering her ear as she beat American Lakey Peterson in their third round heat at Cloudbreak.
Earlier in the day, three‑time world championship runner‑up Fitzgibbons was in visible pain after falling on her side in a second‑round wipeout.
