The Telecom Fijiana 7s team has qualified for the semifinals of the Kitakyushu 7s in Japan.
Fiji beat the USA Women’s 7s team 26-19 in their quarterfinal match after a strong comeback in the second half.
Raijeli Daveua scored Fiji’s only try in the first half.
USA led 12-5 at half time.
Tries by Miriama Naiobasali, Timaima Ravisa and Rusila Nagasau gave Fiji the win in the second half.
Fiji will face series leaders New Zealand in the second semifinal of the Kitakyushu 7s in Japan at 5.10pm today.
Olympic champions, Australia will play Canada in the first semifinal.
In the pool stage of the competition, the Fijiana 7s team thrashed Ireland 45-0, defeated Brazil 34-7 and was beaten 17-12 by Australia in their final pool match.
The Telecom Fijiana 7s team is currently fourth on the overall women’s sevens series standings with 36 points.
