19‑year‑old Fijian flyer Sevu Reece has become one of New Zealand’s brightest young talents and is out to light up the national sevens tournament in Rotorua this weekend.
But the Fiji born, Waikato wing, Sevu Reece will have to remain patient before any New Zealand representative honours come his way.
Reece moved to New Zealand via scholarship and there is a three‑year stand‑down period from the time he finishes school before New Zealand Rugby grants him eligible to wear black.
He would have been a good fit for New Zealand’s Under‑20 side, while All Blacks sevens camps have also had to sit tantalisingly in the background.
