Swire Shipping Fijian Latui coach Senirusi Seruvakula has named a powerful 23‑member team for their first match in Global Rapid Rugby against Kagifa Samoa at Churchill Park today.
Mosese Voka will captain the Latui.
Eroni Mawi and Mesulame Dolokoto to lead the front row.
Nadroga number eight Timoci Davu and Namosi’s Netava Koroisau will also make their international debut for a national team today.
The back‑line is packed with experienced players like Apisalome Waqatabu, Apete Daveta, John Stewart and Lepani Raiyala.
Frank Lomani will not feature for the Latui this weekend as he continues to nurse a minor injury sustained during the Skipper Cup match against Nadi last weekend.
The competition will have a host of new rules which includes 9 points power tries for running in a try from their 22 metre line, rolling substitutions, 35 minutes for each half of the game and changes to territorial kicking rules.
The 15 men a side game will also have time limits for scrums as 1 minute and lineouts of 45 seconds to set, defensive 22 metre area kicking change which includes no gain in ground when kicking direct to touch even from within the 22, the same as the World Rugby law for outside the 22.
Tickets for the Global Rapid Rugby Pacific Showcase can be purchased from Lautoka City Council or at Churchill Park today for $10 grandstand, $5 embankment, with children under 12 onto the embankment for free.
The Swire Shipping Fijian Latui faces Kagifa Samoa at 3.10pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka today.
