A Fiji Under 20 squad has started their training ahead of the Oceania Rugby U20 Championship in Australia next month.
Head Coach Kele Leawere says they are working to building a new team for the Championship after winning the 2018 World Rugby U20 Trophy in Romania especially with those players no longer with the team.
Leawere says that the Oceania Championship will be a good learning curve before Fiji will later try and defend their title at the World Rugby U20s Championship.
Leawere says he will name his team in the first week of next month.
New Zealand is the Oceania Championship defending champion and will be defending the title for the 5th time in a row this year.
Junior Wallabies and Japan U20 are the other two team in the Oceania Championship. That will feature in the Oceania Championship.
Junior Wallabies Head Coach Jason Gilmore said that while New Zealand are their trans‑Tasman rivals, Fiji is always a world class side to run out against, they play a high‑speed, expansive style of rugby and a side that can attack from all over the park.
The Oceania Rugby U20 Championship will takes place at Bond University in from April 26th to 4th May this year.
