Discipline and defence will again be key factors for the Vodafone Fiji 7s team as they try to secure back-to-back wins this weekend.
With the Singapore 7s kicking off this afternoon, Fiji 7s Coach Gareth Baber will rely heavily on Isake Katonibau to continue guiding young players.
Baber says Katonibau brought discipline, authority and leadership in the team which allowed players around him to play with freedom and most notably Katonibau’s presence allowed Mesulame Kunavula and Kalione Nasoko to play their top game in the Hong Kong 7s final.
Barring any upsets, Fiji is expected to face New Zealand, USA or Wales in the Medal quarter-finals.
Fiji will play Hong Kong in their first pool match at 4.52pm today, their second game is against Russia at 7.50 tonight and their final pool match is against Canada at 12.06am tomorrow.
The quarters will kick off at 4.30pm tomorrow, the semis will start at 9.10pm tomorrow while the Gold Medal Final will kick off at 12.20am Monday.
