It is true that the Fiji Swimmers are not qualifying for the finals, but they have gained some of their best times during the last two days of the Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships.
This was stated by the General Manager for Fiji Swimming David Dugu when asked by Fijivillage at the Damodar Aquatic Center today.
Dugu says countries participating in the Championships were the power houses in competitive swimming and they brought the best of the best to compete in this year’s Pan Pacific.
He says Fiji has a very young swim team and that there is always room for growth as this competition is a way for Fiji Swimming to measure the swimmers potential.
Fiji Swimming, with the help of data gathered during the Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships is working on a strategic plan to have these swimmers prepared and be ready for the 2019 Pacific Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Dugu says that the swimmers continue to step up to the bar and that these types of International Swimming Events will help them build their potential.
The competition will finish tomorrow.
