Fiji now in second place on Pacific Games Medal tally

Fiji is now in second place on the Pacific Games Medal Tally after an impressive performance by the Team Fiji swimmers at the Samoa Aquatic Centre last night.

New Caledonia is leading the Pacific Games medal tally with 21 gold, 17 silver and 12 bronze while Fiji is second with 10 gold, 9 silver and 14 bronze.

Tahiti is currently in third place with 10 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze.

The Fiji Swimming Team won three gold medals last night.

Matelita Buadromo won the Women’s 200 metres Freestyle final while Saint Joseph’s Secondary School student Moana Wind won gold in the Women’s 50 metres Breaststroke final.

A relay team made up of Yolani Blake, Cheyenne Rova, Rosemarie Rova and Matelita Buadromo also won gold in the Women’s 4x100 metres Freestyle relay.

This was Buadromo’s second gold medal win last night.

Epeli Rabua also won a bronze medal in the Men’s 50 metres Breaststroke final.

Fiji also won a bronze medal in the Men’s 4x100 metres Freestyle relay.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Men’s and Women’s 7s teams will be in action at the Pacific Games from today.

The Men’s 7s team will play Wallis and Futuna at 8.50am today, Fiji will then play New Caledonia at 11.24am, the national side will play Cook Islands at 3.06pm while we face Nauru at 9.56am on tomorrow.

The winners of the two pools will qualify for the final which will be played at 6.12pm on tomorrow.

The Women’s team will play Solomon Islands at 7am today they take on Nauru on at 10.18am today and we play PNG at 1.38pm today.

The Fiji Men’s soccer team which leads Group B with six points will play New Caledonia at 12pm today and while the Fiji Women’s soccer team will play Samoa at 2.30pm today.
