The Fiji hockey teams continue their unbeaten run on day 2 of the Hockey World League Round 1 at the National Hockey Centre.
The Fiji men’s hockey team was taken to the wire by a spirited Vanuatu team earlier today.
Vanuatu held Fiji 2-all at halftime, which extended to 4-all at fulltime.
Fiji and Vanuatu entered the penalty shootout where they both scored twice from the first three shots.
The game was then extended to sudden death where Fiji defeated Vanuatu 7-6.
Meanwhile, the Fiji women’s team defeated Solomons 9-1.
Fiji led 3-1 at halftime.
In other women’s matches, PNG beat Solomons 2-1 while Fiji crushed Tonga 19-0.
The Solomons men’s team defeated Tonga 3-2.
This is a qualifying tournament for the 2017 World Cup.
