A lot is at stake at the Oceania Athletics Championships with Fiji going in as underdog with their athletes.
Without Banuve Tabakaucoro, the Fiji mens sprint team will have Samu Railoa, Aron Powell, Vilisoni Rarasea and Sailosi Tubuilagi.
Railoa and Powell have been running 10.70 seconds in their 100 metres while Rarasea’s personal best is 10.90 seconds.
Athletics Fiji Chief Development Officer, Joseph Rodan Junior says they have the last contingent in this competition with 150 athletes.
The Oceania Athletics Championship will be opened at 2 this afternoon while the games will start at 4pm at the ANZ Stadium.
The events that will be held today including the some of the field events, the men 3000 metres Under 18 final, women 3000 metre under 18 final, men 100 metre senior heats and the women 100 metre senior heats.
The competition will end on Saturday.
