Vodafone Fiji U20 soccer coach Frank Farina says they are in a wonderful position.
This follows the side’s 3-0 victory over Honduras.
Fiji now needs to win against Uzbekistan to qualify for the round of 16. A draw will even take us through to the eliminations if Germany beats Honduras in its last group match.
He says the players realised they could compete at this level, and that they deserved to be here.
Farina says they have nothing to lose and they will fight to go through as they improve from each game and learn from this incredible experience.
Fiji will play Uzbekistan at 2pm tomorrow.
Meanwhile, New Zealand also created history after they booked their spot in the last 16 of the U‑20 World Cup.
This is after Senegal could only manage a 2‑1 victory over Qatar.
They became the first Kiwi team to advance past the group stages in the 38‑year history of the event.
