The Fiji U19 netball team defeated the Fiji Secondary Schools U19 team 40-24 to seal a place in the semifinal of the 2017 Digicel Punjas International Secondary Schools Netball Challenge earlier today.
The Fiji U19 team led the Fiji Secondary Schools 19-12 at halftime.
Fiji U19 netball coach Filo Korovulavula says that today’s game was a challenge for the girls, but with the fitness advantage within the team the girls managed to seal the win.
She adds that they need to improve on their mid-court work and shooting ahead of their next game in the semifinal.
The top four teams that have qualified for the semifinals include Aotearoa Maori, Auckland Maori, Fiji U19 and School Sports Australia.
Fiji will take on Aotearoa Maori in the first semifinal while School Sports Australia will take on Auckland Samoa in the second semifinal at 9am tomorrow at the Vodafone Arena.
The final of the 2017 Digicel Punjas International Secondary Schools Netball Challenge will be held at 2.15 tomorrow afternoon.
