The Fiji Swimming team will field 28 swimmers in the Oceania Swimming Championships which will be held in Suva later this month.
National Team Manager, David Eyre said this is the final Rio Olympics qualifier and they are preparing 13 female swimmers and 15 male swimmers.
Eyre said 19-year-old Meli Malani and 20-year-old Matelita Buadromo are likely to qualify for Rio.
Malani who just broke the Open National record of 23.18 seconds will be competing in the men’s 50m Freestyle, and he will try to make the qualifying time of 22.89 seconds.
Buadromo will be competing in the women’s 200m Freestyle.
Her personal best time is 2 minutes 5 seconds and she is trying to make the Olympic qualifying time of 2 minutes and 3 seconds.
Meanwhile a total of 15 countries in the Pacific including Australia and New Zealand will be competing in the 2016 Oceania Swimming Championships which will be held from the 19th to the 26th of this month at the Damodar Aquatic Centre.
