The 2018 Fiji Secondary School Basketball Championship is set to begin this morning at the FMF Gymnasium.
Basketball Fiji Sports Development Officer, Kenneth Taliu says that 38 teams and more then 300 athletes have confirmed their participation.
St John’s College and Suva Grammar School Under 19 head into this year’s competition as defending champions.
Tali says other big schools to look out for at the tournament include, Tilak High School, Yat Sen Secondary School, Gospel High School, Marist Brothers High School, Natabua High School, SVC, QVS and first timers RKS.
He says that the competition will have three grades in the U15, U17 and U19 for both the boys and girls divisions.
The National Secondary Schools Basketball Championship begin at 8.30am this morning FMF Gymnasium.
In the first round of games for the U15 girls, Yat Sen Secondary School take on Swami Vivekananda College at 8.30am while RKS will face SVC in U15 boys division at 9.10am.
In the U17 grade RKS will take on Natabua High School at 1pm and in the girls division, Yat Sen Secondary School will face SVC at 1.50pm
In the U19 grades, Marist Brothers High School will meet SVC at 9.50am and in the girls division, Suva Grammar School will take on Tilak High School at 12.30pm
