The Fiji Chess Federation has taken Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee or FASANOC to court.
The case is before the Suva High Court.
An injunction has been sought against FASANOC's purported suspension of Fiji Chess Federation as a member in April.
The Chess Federation claims the suspension was based on rumours and FASANOC did not have powers to interfere in the Chess Federation's affairs, amongst other things.
The Federation also says that the cancellation of the AGM in March was beyond the Fiji Chess Federation’s control.
FASANOC asked the judge for 28 days to respond.
However, this was opposed by FCF who cited the importance of the registration deadline for the upcoming Asian Indoor Games in Turkmenistan.
The judge considered the urgency of the case and allowed FASANOC 14 days to file their response.
The Fiji Chess Federation volunteered to reply within two days after that to get a quick hearing for the injunction application.
A hearing date has been set for July 15th.
As part of the substantive action, the Chess Federation has also sought the court's permission to conduct an Annual General Meeting.
In the meantime, the Fiji Chess Federation says it will continue to operate as usual and manage its day‑to‑day operations.
