“It’s game day.”
The 39th Fiji Bitter Marist 7's kicks off this morning with core teams already eyeing the main cup title tomorrow.
From the 64 teams that are competing in the main cup competition, the teams that are expected to stand out are defending champions Wardens Gold, Wardens Green, runners up from last year Police, CK's Ezybuy Tabadamu Blues, Yamacia, Tokatoka Westfield Babas, Army and Redrock.
A lot of excitement has build up from new teams who have posing threats saying they are not just participating to make up the numbers.
The teams who are expected to create upsets are the Anaconda Nakavu from Navua, Trinity Newtown from Nasinu, Uluinakau Green and First Landing from Lautoka.
Tournament Organizer Koli Korovulavula says the grounds are ready and are looking forward to another exciting Marist 7's.
Meanwhile Vodafone Fiji 7's coach Ben Ryan will be announcing his training squad for the Hong Kong 7's after the final.
Ryan said he will select players based on performance and not reputation.
Ryan highlighted early this week that he will be working with the organizers in ensuring that player discipline is monitored closely.
The Fiji Bitter Marist 7's kicks off at 8am at the ANZ Stadium with the first game to be played between defending champion Wardens Gold and Fire.
