The Fiji Airways Drua can still finish in second place and host a semifinal with a bonus point win over the Sydney Rays, and if the Canberra Vikings lose to the Sydney Rams without a bonus point this weekend.

After losing to Queensland Country last weekend, it has done the other finalists a huge favour, ensuring the Drua could not host a home final, which would have made them harder to beat again.

As it was, hosting rights for the Drua was going to be an issue if they are to host a game at the ANZ Stadium where the Oceania 7s will be held from 10-11 November, which was scheduled to be the day of the NRC final.

Here is what the six finals contenders face heading into this weekend’s final regular season round.

Queensland Country has 28 points, their best case could be finishing first if they beat the Perth Spirit.

Their worst case scenario is that they could finish second if they lose and if Canberra beat Greater Sydney Rams.

Canberra Vikings has 25 points, they could also finish first with a win over the Rams, and if Queensland Country lose.

There worst case could drop to third if they take no points from a Rams loss and if the Drua beat Sydney Rays with a bonus point.

For the Drua who has 21 points, could finish second with a bonus point win over the Rays, and if Canberra loses to the Rams without a bonus point.

Drua’s worst case scenario could be missing out on the top four completely if they take no points from a loss to Sydney Rays and if either NSW Country or Brisbane City win, and if Perth beat Queensland Country with a BP.
