The Vodafone Fiji 7s team and the Telecom Fijiana are both ready to run out of the Sir John Guise Outdoor Stadium to play in their first pool games of the Pacific Games.
The Men’s 7s team will take on host Papua New Guinea at 3.28pm.
Fiji’s second game will be against Guam at 6.46pm before taking on Solomon Islands at 10.04 tonight.
Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan says they will not take any team lightly especially the host Papua New Guinea.
The Fiji 7s team won silver in the past two Pacific Games, losing out to Samoa in both competitions.
Meanwhile the Fijiana team won gold in the inaugural women's 7s tournament at the Pacific Games in 2011.
The Fijiana side will play their first game against Australia at 2pm today.
Their second game is against Samoa at 5.40pm before they take on PNG at 8.58 tonight.
Also tonight, the Fiji Men’s Basketball team will be playing against Guam at 7pm in the play-offs for the semifinals.
Looking at the Fijivillage Pacific Games medal tally, Papua New Guinea is leading with 19 gold, 12 silver and 7 bronze.
Tahiti is in second place with 10 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze, Australia is in third place with 8 gold and 11 silver and 7 bronze, Samoa is now in fourth place with 8 gold and 11 silver and New Caledonia is in fifth place with 7 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze.
Team Fiji is in sixth place with 4 gold, 10 silver and 8 bronze.
