The Vodafone Fiji 7s team will get $300,000 when they leave for the Rio Olympics in August this year.
Minister for Youth and Sports, Laisenia Tuitubou confirmed this morning to Fijivillage that the government has provided $4.1 million to Team Fiji going to the Olympics.
Every participating team including the Fiji 7s team will get a share of that $4.1 million to prepare for the Olympics.
Opposition MP Niko Nawaikula questioned Tuitubou in parliament on the actual figure that government will provide to the Fiji 7s team.
Tuitubou says he does not have the actual amount at this stage.
Opposition MP Mosese Bulitavu also requested the government to assist Ben Ryan in some other areas of the game including the discipline of the players.
Tuitubou says Ben Ryan knows what he is doing and the issue will be addressed.
Meanwhile Tuitubou is encouraging corporate sponsors to continue their assistance for the national side.
Ben Ryan had earlier requested for $3 million to prepare the team for the Rio Olympics.
