The Vodafone Fiji 7s team who touched down in Dubai over the weekend is getting in some early practice ahead of the Dubai 7s which starts on Friday.
The Fiji 7s played several friendly games against various Abu Dhabi Harlequins teams, as well as a game of touch against a team of students from a nearby by British School.
Coach Ben Ryan says community is everything in rugby and it’s important to retain those links so they were grateful to Harlequins.
Even though the side was not tested, Ryan says he tried out a number of combinations and plays.
Meanwhile, Canada who will tackle Fiji in their opening game of the tournament is aiming for a good start.
Canada coach Liam Middleton says they know how to play against Fiji, and that they will just have to execute.
Fiji will meet Canada in their first pool match at 6pm this Friday.
They will then take on Japan at 9pm Friday before facing Argentina at 3.28am Saturday.
The Cup quarterfinals will start at 8pm Saturday, Cup semis will start at 1.41am Sunday while the Cup final will be at 4.48am Sunday.
Fiji last won the Dubai Sevens in the 2013 2014 Sevens World Series.
