Despite finishing third in both the Wellington and the Sydney 7s, the Vodafone Fiji 7s team collected $20,000 bonus from major sponsor Vodafone for maintaining their series lead.
Ben Ryan and the players were surprised to receive the cheques of $10,000 for the third place finish in Wellington and $10,000 for the third place finish in Sydney.
Vodafone CEO Pradeep Lal says the top teams are roping in new players to find their formidable combinations for the Rio Olympics.
Lal adds that they have put a bonus structure in place to continue to incentives the team finishing in the top four should they not make the final.
The national sevens players have now switched their focus to the Las Vegas and Vancouver Leg where Fiji is the defending champion of the Las Vegas 7s.
They are pooled with Samoa, France and Argentina.
The Las Vegas 7s will be held from the 5th to the 7th of next month.
