Top Hollywood producers are having talks with Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan and looking to plan a big‑budget documentary that would get to cinemas across the world.
After Fiji’s recent success on a back to back World Sevens Series title, Ryan is hoping to achieve the ultimate Hollywood happy ending by guiding Fiji to its long‑awaited first Olympic medal.
Speaking to CNN Sports, Ryan said when he sits down and starts telling some of the tales, people think that he is making them up.
Producers who have worked alongside people like Steven Spielberg are having talks with Ryan and looking to plan a big‑budget documentary.
The documentary will not be the same theme as the "Cool Runnings" film which made Jamaica's bobsled team famous with its unlikely bid to compete at the 1988 Winter Olympics.
Ryan believes his players will be able to cope and have to deal with daily exposure and expectation in Fiji.
He said that no one is guaranteed a spot to the Olympics with 24 players to go through an intense seven‑week camp which will end with the final 12‑man team.
For Ryan himself, a big task is dealing with his own movie‑star billing as he seeks to guide his players to legendary status.
He's already the subject of a tribute song to the tune of Babu Marley's "Iron Lion Zion".
The 24 member squad will start camping next Saturday at Uprising Beach Resort to prepare for Rio.
