Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s captain Kalione Nasoko has finally completed the signing of his two year deal with Scottish club Edinburgh.
Rugby Pass reported that upon signing, Nasoko says that this is a great opportunity for his family, and after many years on the Sevens circuit, he cannot wait for this new challenge in Scotland.
Nasoko says that he is very excited by the opportunity to join Edinburgh and friend Viliame Mata who has told him great things about the club and he can’t wait to get started.
Edinburgh Head Coach Richard Cockerill says that Nasoko is a tremendously exciting player and he will predominantly play as a winger, but he has also played at 13.
Nasoko made his Fiji Sevens debut at the 2016 Dubai Sevens and has played 142 games on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens circuit, scoring 63 tries.
Coach Gareth Baber earlier told Fijivillage that he is supportive of the move by Nasoko.
Baber will be naming his final 13 member squad to the Hong Kong 7s today and they will depart on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Fiji will take on Kenya at 11.37pm next Friday in their first pool match of the Hong Kong 7s, they will then take on Australia at 5.13pm next Saturday and play their final pool match against New Zealand at 8.55pm next Saturday.
The cup quarterfinals will kick start at 2.58pm next Sunday, cup semifinal final at 7.41pm and cup final will be played at 11pm next Sunday.
