More than 150 weightlifters from 24 countries in the region will be competing in the 2016 Oceania Weightlifting Championship later this month.
Oceania Weightlifting Championship Chairman, Dr Robin Mitchell says four delegates from the International Weightlifting Federation will also be present at the competition.
He says this competition is an Olympic qualifying event.
Fifteen weightlifters from Fiji have been confirmed to participate at the event.
Meanwhile, Fiji Weightlifting Federation Treasurer, Sikeli Tuinamuana says Manueli Tulo is the top favorite for the 56kg event and is tipped to qualify for the Rio Games.
Tuinamuana says Apolonia Vaivai in the Women’s competition is also tipped to do well.
Sixteen‑year‑old Eileen Cikamatana from Levuka will compete in the 69 kg event.
The entry tickets to the competition is $5.
The 2016 Oceania Weightlifting Championship will be held from the 24th to the 28th of this month at the Vodafone Arena.
