The Fiji Rugby Union has stated that the issues raised by the Nadroga Rugby Union are operational matters and do not concern the sponsors of the Skipper Cup Competition.
FRU said that they regret the fact that some Unions have decided to communicate with Rugby House through the media and this directly threatens the current discussions towards the normalizing of relationship with the IRB and also the continued efforts to secure more sponsors.
Earlier this week, Nadroga Rugby Union President Tiko Matawalu demanded clear answers on a number of issues from the FRU regarding the Skipper Cup competition.
These include Man of the Match payments from Round 1 to 11 to be paid to all unions, CJ Patel products to be supplied to all unions, top Points Winners' Prizes for the U20 and Seniors to be paid out to the unions, Farebrother Rules and Regulations for 2014 to be circulated and an immediate meeting to be called with all unions to discuss all outstanding matters.
FRU said they understand these are operational matters and there are bound to be some teething issues that are being ironed out operationally but it should not be justification for a boycott of games.
FRU has called all the unions for a meeting this Saturday to address the issues that have been raised.
However, Matawalu said they will still maintain their stand.
Meanwhile, the Skipper cup semifinal between Nadroga and Suva will be played next Saturday at Lawaqa Park.
