The Fiji Rugby Union had to pay for Vodafone Fiji 7s player, Savenaca Rawaca’s private hospital bills yesterday.
The FRU has expressed its disappointment with the Fijian Teachers Association after they failed to pay the bills for Rawaca’s admittance at the Suva Private Hospital last week.
This came to light after the Suva Private Hospital contacted FRU in regards to the unpaid bill.
The FRU said following the FTA’s commitment in the media that they had arranged for Rawaca to be admitted at the Suva Private Hospital and that they would pay his hospital bills, the rugby union has learnt that no such payment had been made.
The FRU said the claim by the FTA in the media that they paid a deposit of $6000 to Suva Private Hospital was totally false and misleading.
The Rugby Union said this is a sad story where a prominent Fiji 7s player and the public were misled.
The FRU has cleared Rawaca’s bill and will report the matter to the Minister of Education and the Commissioner of Police to exercise their authority in this alleged misleading and dishonest gesture by certain FTA Officials.
