FRU clears the air on why Ben Ryan was not nominated

The Fiji Rugby Union has cleared the air as to why former Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan was not nominated for the Coach of the Year award at the Fiji Rugby awards night.

FRU CEO John O’ Connor confirms that none of the Unions had nominated Ryan by the close of nominations last year.

After FRU had released the nominations for the awards , many people had questioned as to why, Ryan who had led Fiji to Olympic glory and back to back 7s series victories was not nominated.

However, O’Connor says FRU has nominated Ben Ryan for the best coach at the Fiji Sports Awards.

The Fiji Rugby Awards night will be held this Saturday at the Novotel Hotel in Lami.

Meanwhile, the Fiji 7s team is pooled with South Africa, Australia and Japan for the Wellington 7s that will be played from the 28th to the 29th of this month.
