The Fiji National Rugby League has confirmed that Petero Civoniceva is a board member of FNRL and is always apart of the Fiji Bati even in this upcoming test match against Papua New Guinea.
This comes after reports by Australian Media were made that FNRL officials have sensationally left out Civoniceva from this week's Pacific Test – because they believed he was "too busy".
When contacted by Fijivillage, FNRL Chairman, Peni Musunamsi has disputed reports that Civoniceva, learned of his dumping for the Pacific Test via social media.
Musunamasi has also clarified that comments made by Skipper Kevin Naiqama to the Sydney Morning Herald is his opinion and FNRL is preparing their response to the report through a press release sometime tomorrow.
Skipper Kevin Naiqama spoke to the Sydney Morning Herald saying nobody had done more for the game in Fiji than Civoniceva and it was "disrespectful" to exclude Civoniceva from their week‑long camp for the first time leading into their clash against Papua New Guinea.
Musunamasi says that their primary focus now will be to get the Fiji Bati team and management ready for the test match against the PNG Kumuls.
The Fiji Bati squad will start their camp tomorrow in Parramatta, Sydney and will take on the PNG Kumuls on Saturday.
