FASANOC has received official advice from the Amateur International Boxing Association, the International Federation responsible for the sport of boxing that it has accepted the amendments passed by parliament to amend the Boxing Commission of Fiji Decree of 2008.
AIBA’s Senior Legal Manager, Charlotte Anderson confirmed that through the amendment bill, the Government has fulfilled the requirement of AIBA and the IOC to allow Boxing Fiji Association to be autonomous and become a recognized Member of AIBA again.
FASANOC Vice President responsible for boxing, Manasa Baravilala said FASANOC is grateful for the spirit of sportsmanship and cooperation that has prevailed throughout with AIBA giving them the green light to embark on the plan to resuscitate boxing.
This will now open the door for Fiji boxers to participate in international competitions such as the 2015 Pacific Games.
