30 European based Fijian rugby players will march into a three day camp with Flying Fijians coach John McKee in France next month starting their preparations for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
McKee says that he is pleased with the volume and quality of game time his squad has been producing during the European competitions.
Some of the players that are expected to be in camp are Viliame Mata, Peceli Yato, Vereniki Goneva and Leone Nakarawa.
Players will be screened for their physicality and also medically to see if they have picked up any injuries and to reconnect with the Fijian programme.
Whilst the big stars have been having plenty of impact during their seasons, there is still a number of players who McKee will use the camp as an opportunity to provide supplementary focus areas to work on before they combine for the Pacific Nations Cup campaigns later in the year.
McKee says that with such a small window of preparation time before the major tournament in September, maintaining, gathering and building upon the 2018 momentum is critical.
The squad will camp in Toulouse from the 4th to the 6th of next month.
McKee will also travel to Japan in late March to finalize the team base and camps, inspecting the facilities closely and to make sure that all the logistics are ironed out at each venue and other arrangements for when the World Cup takes place.
The Rugby World Cup will be held from the 20th of September to the 2nd of November.
