“Estonia is not coming here for a holiday but to put our faces down.”
Vodafone Fiji Soccer Coach Christophe Gamel has reiterated this to his “Bula Boys” as the 175th ranked Fiji soccer team gets ready to face 80th ranked Estonia this Sunday.
Gamel says this is a fantastic opportunity for Fijian footballers to play against some of the best from Europe.
The former Paris St‑Germain assistant coach will also get tested this Sunday as this match will be his toughest assignment since taking up the coaching position in Fiji in December last year.
44‑year‑old Gamel has a diverse background in European football, playing semi‑professionally for various French and Italian clubs while coaching youth football teams, before receiving his UEFA Pro‑Licence and moving up into international coaching with the Qatar U‑17 and U‑19 national teams.
Fiji will face Estonia at 3pm this Sunday at the ANZ stadium and you can catch the live commentary on Radio Sargam.
