England 7s captain Tom Mitchell believes that they will be going in as underdogs ahead of the Commonwealth 7s tournament this weekend.
Based on their current performance in the World Sevens Series, England has gone from being a silver medalist in the 2016 Rio Olympics to currently sitting at eighth place behind Kenya in the 2017/2018 World Series points table.
Mitchell says the last Commonwealth Games in Glasgow was a mixed experience for him.
He believes that Fiji, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia will be tough to beat but they are up for the challenge.
England is pooled with Australia, Samoa and Jamaica.
Meanwhile the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team is pooled with Wales, Uganda and Sri Lanka.
Fiji will play Sri Lanka at 1.21pm Saturday in their first game, they will then meet Uganda at 7.53pm on Saturday in their second pool match before facing Wales at 11.33pm in their last pool game.
There will be no quarterfinals as the top four teams will go straight to the semi finals at 1.43pm Sunday and the Commonwealth 7s final will kick off at 5.04pm Sunday.
