Four‑time Dubai Sevens champion England is looking to improve on their fourth place finish in Dubai last year when the tournament kicks off next week.

England has started the season strongly, finishing third in the Gold Coast 7s, after producing a stunning win over 12‑time overall series champion New Zealand 31-7 in the Cup quarterfinals.

They went down 48-7 to Fiji in the semis, but came back to hammer South Africa 19-0 in the play‑off.

Coach Simon Amor said he is happy with his players performance in Gold Coast and they are hoping to get some consistency in their performance.

England is in Pool C together with Australia, Gold Coast Bowl winners USA and Round 1 Shield runners‑up Kenya.

Meanwhile the Vodafone Fiji 7s team will take on France in their first pool match at 6.44pm next Friday. They will later meet Brazil at 9.44pm.

Their last pool match is against Argentina at 1.52am Saturday.

The cup quarter finals start at 8pm Saturday, the cup semifinals are at 1.55am Sunday while the cup final kicks off at 3.42am.
