Fiji Men’s National 7s team players Paula Draunisinukula and Josua Vakurunabili who have both come back from injuries were pushing themselves on the training field today.
Coach Gareth Baber says with their return, the two players will bring an edge to the side going into the Hamilton and Sydney 7s tournaments.
Baber says former First Landing player, Napolioni Ratu who had earlier joined the training side for the Oceania 7s is also a contender for the playmaker’s position alongside Terio Tamani and Waisea Nacuqu.
He adds Napolioni Ratu has joined the squad recently and is also catching up quickly in terms of understanding the way the game is played internationally.
He says he is excited to see who can claim the playmaker’s spot.
The 19 member squad will continue training in Suva today and is expected to face the Tabadamu 7s team for a scrimmage session this afternoon.
They are expected to have their last run for this week’s session on Friday at the Sigatoka Sand dunes.
Fiji is pooled with Australia, Wales and Argentina in the Hamilton 7s which will be held on the 26th and the 27th of this month.ADVERTISEMENT Listen to the latest news on our 5 radio stations Legend FM, Viti FM, Radio Sargam, FM96 and Navtarang.
