Netball Fiji has received a major boost today as Digicel and Punjas announced a historic $350,000 sponsorship for the Digicel Punjas Super League Netball Series for the next three years.
The series which kicks off this Saturday comprises of six district teams around the country.
The new deal will see the launch of a new franchise style Super League competition which starts with a ranking tournament at the Lautoka multi-purpose courts this Saturday.
The Super League series will showcase Fiji’s best Netball talent as national players will be scattered out to their various districts.
Fiji Pearls coach Kate Carpenter said with 120 players the competition will provide a wider range pool of athletes.
Carpenter added that this also allow the national players to share their knowledge with the other local players.
Digicel Fiji Commercial Director Andrew Skelton said Digicel knows the improvements shown recently by the national Netball team and the company is looking forward to supporting the team in the future.
The competition kicks off at the Lautoka multi-purpose courts this Saturday.
