The hype for the 2019 Coca‑Cola Games is well underway with Digicel Fiji today announcing their support with cash for the Powerade National Torch Relay which starts next week.
Digicel Fiji Head of Consumer Sales Charlotte Taylor did not reveal the total amount of cash sponsorship.
The company has been a major sponsor of the Powerade National Torch Relay for the last three years.
Taylor says the relay will give them a great opportunity to reach out to their customers in remote areas.
This year they are also introducing a new cheer or school chant competition during the torch relay tour to keep the school spirit alive and capture the spirit of the Coca‑Cola Games.
All schools have the opportunity to participate and win prizes at the end of the journey.
Taylor says that the winning school receives free internet for 1 year and sports equipment.
There will also be a Coca‑Cola Games promotion for all Digicel customers who need to opt‑in to any of Digicel’s Big Phat data plans and go into the draw to win an all‑expenses paid trip to Suva to watch the annual schools athletics final.
Meanwhile, Coca‑Cola Amatil’s Sponsorship and Special Events Manager, Elton Varomue says the torch will visit 70 secondary schools and will involve 140 students on a 25 day journey throughout the country.
Elton says that for the first time the National Torch Relay will visit Ratu Finau Secondary School and Moce Secondary School in the Lau group.
The National Torch Relay will start next Monday and will concluding at the opening of the Coca‑Cola Games at the ANZ Stadium on Tuesday 16 April.
