Fiji FACT Defending champion Rewa has defeated Ba 1‑0 in the Group A match of the competition at Ratu Cakobau Park yesterday.
Setareki Hughes scored the lone goal in the 3rd minute of the first half for Rewa after Misaele Draunibaka broke the Ba defense and sent an inch perfect pass for Hughes.
Ba applied tremendous pressure to get the equaliser but failed because of poor finishing. In another Group A match, Labasa beat Dreketi 2‑0 with goals from Ratu Anare Apenisa and Pita Levaci.
Rewa and Labasa now have three points each and will next face Dreketi and Ba respectively.
In Group A, Lautoka and Tavua have three points each while Nadi and Suva are yet to register a point.
Lautoka beat Suva 1-0 through a second half goal from super sub, Osea Vakatalesau. Earlier yesterday, Tavua caused a major upset by beating Nadi 2‑1.
Today, Tavua will face Suva at 12pm, Rewa plays Dreketi at 2pm, Nadi will meet Lautoka at 4pm and Ba will play Labasa at 6pm.
