National Secondary School defending boys champions, Saint John’s College lost to Marist Brothers High School 7-11 in their second pool match.
Marist are looking to be the strongest team in the U19 boys division after causing an upset defeating the defending champions and earlier thrashing Swami Vivekanada College 25-3 in their pool match.
In other results of the second round of games for the U19 boys grade, the All Stars edged Tilak High School 21-20, SVC thumped Gospel High School 21-4 while Marist beat Saint John’s College 11-7.
The U17 girls All Stars team has defeated the Saint John’s College 19-5, Saint Joseph’s Secondary School beat SVC 20-4 while Suva Grammar School beat the All Stars 20-14.
Queen Victoria School U17 team started well in the competition beating Tilak High School 37-17 while ion another U17 match, John Wesley College upset Yat Sen Secondary School 23-19.
Day 2 of the National Secondary Schools Basketball Competition will begin at 8.30am at the FMF Gymnasium.
Looking at the games in the U19 grade, Tilak will face RKS at 1.40pm, Marist will take on Gospel High School at 2.20pm while Swami Vivekanada College will face Saint John's College at 3.00pm in Eds Court, Raiwaqa.
Meanwhile Basketball Fiji will be conducting Basketball clinics for children from the ages of 9 to 14-years-old at the Darmodar City carpark.
